A pg from my head..

Well, here I am sitting in my room, in my black fleece winter jacket and pyjamas, wondering why I feel a little amiss just now.

I tell you this is one of those posts, after writing which I might delete it or might go on to post it and after while would start thinking..ha..what the heck ! ;) This post is not something related to any subject..its just like a page in my diary of life, quoted here for a reader's insight. Last few days I have been running about with my friend with resumes in hand handing it to shops around Melbourne CBD, in the hopes of getting a call back for a casual job during this semester break.

I've been utilizing the time after my semester to catch up with some pals, whom I seem to have stifled, because of my rather 'difficult' routine ;) during my semester days. And for those of you reading this and wondering, ha ! " No point just writing mate", its just been a couple of days..relax..I'll try to catch up with all :)

Everything has been feeling a trifle different after coming to Melbourne. I sometimes feel that I'm yet to discover myself in this city. I know its a mixed feeling of being out of your comfort zone, away from loved ones and then also a goal to put into action all those things dreams I've had when I was growing up, of doing something I like and then get settled and all that.

Its been a different and demanding experience until now. I've tried to camouflage myself into the crowd and I have been exploring independent living. Well, I say independent not because I'm staying alone, which I'm not, but independent because I give a first hand account of things happening far away from my homeland, to my friends and loved ones, and it all seems like I'm reporting this new experience. To some people, I'm the only person known to them in this part of the world and it is really nice when I relate to them, my life here. Its like saying, they see the picture here forming a mental image of things that I tell them, trying to figure out how it all might be.

This is very true when you relating the good stuff. Most often this is not the case, when its about the bad stuff. Most tend to unconsciously form opinions out of the media and often will have a bloated perception of the situation here. Night mares for that matter are known to be more significantly 'creative' :)..you tend to form all sorts of worst case scenarios in your mind and before you know you will be worrying because of anxiety. When my friends and folks enquire to me about the present 'student crisis' here, it is a very similar case.

Just one of the things that I felt like putting into words, outta the other million buzzing in my head.

More to follow soon..

Keep Well wherever you are

Peace

Its been a while..Hi all !

Sunday noon here in Melbourne..Its been a while since I blogged..seems as though I left a lot of things back in India after coming here..and with it the drive to write my blog..

I've been missing this too..more than my readers, I can say with most certainty; not that I'm mocking you guys..without the comments and feedback I get on these posts, I might have never taken to writing after the very first writeup on the placements' drama.

But anyways, so much said, I felt I was ready for a comeback into blogging.. A lot has been happening in Melbourne recently..or to put it more aptly..A lot of unpleasant events have been making news in this rather quite city otherwise.

Its a shame that even the Western culture which speaks so much about openness to cosmopolitan crowd and being forward in terms of an advanced culture, resorts to such cowardly acts of inhumanity even in this century. It might however be wrong if I say the wrong doings of a few is representative of the whole community, but still, its the culture you grow in, basically, that moulds you.

There was a March of Protest few hours back in the city by Indian students voicing their grief regarding the last week's incidents. I will be surprised if this makes it to the papers ahead of some Footy player's dramatic story of how he feels ashamed of his bad temperament on field and wants to apologize to the fans. Back home, I know such an incident (a foreigner's story) will be first thing to make the headlines on the front pages of the newspapers, but here its usually the other way round. I see this both as good thing and a bad thing and I'm sure you will agree, depending on whether you are a citizen or outsider in a country. But, personally, I feel priority should decide this and not always nationality.

There has been more concern this time around than few years back, when most of such incidents, much smaller in degree, were suppressed in the interest of the citizens here. Word seems to be that a 3.5 billion dollar investment into advertising Australian education in India, might go down the drain otherwise. The Labour Party therefore has been doing something about this to protect the rights and interests of Indians here. On and off these things have been happening once or twice in a span of 3 years. But I hope it will reduce still more, after these recent, more serious incidents.

Its always been something about my country that made me write, though I wish in future it won't be something unfortunate.

Live and Let Live !

Left open mouthed :) !!!

Today morning, as I was driving into the town, a bus sped past my car. Though I don't drive like crazy most often, today I was in a mood to. So I caught up behind it soon enough and was about to overtake the bus..when...

I saw something written in white on the lower part of its back side; It wasn't a 'Caution: Air Brake', or 'Keep a Safe Distance' slogan, or a sound horn alert or anything of that sort, that you would expect to see usually...

It was one of the most surprising thing of all, that I saw written on it..It said " No Compromise"; I was like.."Oh...." And the bus sped away !! :)

Cheers

Stop to think over this bit

Its been my observation that people who tend to go to extremes of emotions, tend to always be swayed a lot.

Its like saying, the more resistance you offer to change, the greater chance of you getting changed.

This concept applies to everything that happens around you. Why otherwise do you see the aerodynamic design in vehicles ( cos otherwise the performance of the vehicle is compromised due to air resistance).

People who are radical in their viewpoints tend to be pushed down in the long run. People who are pretty smart ( and slightly out of the ordinary ), are always the ones getting the rude stares and rebukes, the reason being in a way, that they are drawing too much unwanted attention to themselves.

Maintaining a low profile therefore, is a way of being a moderate person, at least in the eyes of the onlookers ;)

So, if you are with me till now on this concept of mine, I ll go a little ahead by saying, the lesser resistance you offer to even things you despise, the lesser negative effects those things will have on you.

So if you say while joining college, for example, that it is an infuriatingly damned place and you ll never ever miss it after you have passed out; the more chances that you will dearly and most painfully miss it when you are actually out of it !!!

Peace,

In the less pensive times ;)

Was really bored at home and thats when I decided to see the Harold & Kumar series of flicks, which I had got few days back. Ha..fellas ! Must say that I had a helluva time seeing those movies..

It is the hilarious adventures of two guys, one Korean and the other Indian, both nationals of US, getting really wild and high. There is lot of unbelievably cool stuff shown in the movie, but thats the fun of it all. The guys get into really tough and irritatingly funny spots and the way they come out of it is really funny. And there is Neil Patrick Harris too, or more commonly known as 'Barney Stinson' from the TV series, How I Met Your Mother, as himself. The first of the two flicks called Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle is a complete entertainer and you ll no doubt be little sad, when the movie ends.

The sequel called, Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay, is much more grappling !! The plot thickens in this one and it gets really maddening too..in an awesome way !! Well towards the end of the movie, even The President of USA, a George Bush look alike that too, is shown smoking weed !! Ha Ha..well it was simply great watching the movie.

There is another thing about these movies. A lot of wrong doings happening in America like the way rascism is handled, how the law is violated at times, rather common mistaking of Indians and other foreigners as terrorists and all that is shown subtly and in a very hilarious way.

I bet you guys will enjoy these flicks. Remotely on the lines of Euro Trip at some parts, but definitely different and recommended only to people who can have a hearty laugh and forget reality a bit for the sake of fun, for about 90 mins !!

Keep Well

Peace
